At Baja Canine School, we believe every dog deserves the chance to be understood, well-trained, and deeply bonded with their family. Janet brings over 30 years of hands-on experience to help dog owners achieve exactly that.
Certified in Animal First Aid and specializing in obedience, behavior modification, puppy raising, service dogs, working dogs, and sport dog training, Janet has worked with dogs across North America. Her approach combines proven techniques, clear communication, and compassion to help both dogs and their people succeed.
Whether you’re starting fresh with a new puppy, guiding a rescue into a stable home, or fine-tuning skills with an older dog, Janet will meet you where you are. She personally works one-on-one with every client to create customized training plans, offering not just results but ongoing support and education.

At Baja Canine School, we use a variety of tools for training which include slip leads, toy/food rewards, prong collar, and e-collars. We believe that any tool when used correctly by a trained person is invaluable. Our methods of training are balanced, meaning we correct and disagree with the negative behaviours and praise and agree with the good behaviours.

We just wanted to share our experience we had training with Janet at WaterdogsK9. We enrolled in private training for our new puppy, Arrow, a black Labrador Retriever. All we can say is that it was the best decision we’ve made to date for him. The knowledge, advice, and encouragement we received from Janet was invaluable. She was simply a game-changer for us. There were so many “a-ha” lightbulb moments at each session, it was truly amazing to see our puppy transform right in front of our eyes with Janet there to guide us. There are so many conflicting methods and information online and with other trainers, so it can be overwhelming, but with Janet, she was spot-on every time. In our opinion, one hour in a room with her is equivalent to a several weeks of group training elsewhere, and even then, it doesn't compare. My beautiful Kali is a wonderful 7 year old dog, but she's shown aggression to other dogs. Then last fall she chased a squirrel in the woods while we were walking and travelled several miles before someone found her and called the phone number on her tag. I knew I had to do something. After several months of training under Janet's tutelage I now have a dog who recalls immediately and who I can absolutely control around other dogs. I can't thank Waterdogs enough and would recommend Janet in a heartbeat. She's made my life with Kali really enjoyable whether we're at home or we're out.

I cannot say enough about Janet and her K9 Waterdogs team! We rescued a 7ish year old GSD about a year ago now - who had a lot of old hard to change habits. With the help of Janet we are better educated and equipped to help him so he can continue to enjoy his life more as a calm, well mannered, dork of all dorks.
We also feel so much comfort knowing that when boarding him at “dog camp” he is in their safe trustworthy care - and I know he has the best time there as he starts warbling with excitement at the mere suggestion of driving near or around any previous drop off location. 1000% recommend !
